Since 2016, SSDs similar to the M.2 form factor are no longer installed in MacBook Pro models; the SSD memory cells are permanently soldered to the motherboard. In the event of a hardware defect in the notebook, the SSD cannot be removed and read with the appropriate Apple SSD adapter, as was common with earlier models. Furthermore, the raw data is encrypted by hardware, which is why desoldering and directly reading the NAND flash memory cells is also of no use.
